Power did not create Evil Clone.
It revealed what was already there.

For millions of years the Core slept inside the comet’s buried nucleus, and every living ball remained ordinary. Then came The First Pulse. It did not change everyone, and it never produced the same gift twice. In Evil Clone it found a life, a place, and a private truth it could amplify.

The government calls each awakening an unpredictable exposure event. That explanation is useful, but incomplete. Two balls can stand beneath the same pulse and leave it entirely different: one unchanged, one transformed, neither able to explain why. Researchers compare distance, material, emotion, memory, and instinct. The Arena then tests those variables under pressure while the instruments below its floor listen for an answer from the Core. To the crowd, every fighter is a champion or a threat. To the researchers, every fighter is evidence. For Evil Clone, the distinction is personal. Entering the Arena means performing for a world that wants a simple story while confronting a power that was shaped by everything life had already made complicated.

Before the power

Before The First Pulse.

Evil Clone has no verified life before The First Pulse. During the first champion's visit to the Core Chamber, every reflective surface displayed a different powered fighter. One reflection remained after the champion left, stepped out of the chamber wall, and demanded citizenship.

That earlier life still matters. The Arena may advertise powers, rankings, and spectacular victories, but it cannot erase the ordinary experiences that taught Evil Clone what to protect, what to fear, and what a win is supposed to mean.

The awakening

When the Core answered.

The government classified the being as a Core-generated anomaly and chose the hostile name “Evil Clone” before any crime had occurred. Evil Clone embraced the name as armor. In the Arena, two borrowed powers stabilize at the start of each battle, allowing the clone to become a convincing combination of others without ever discovering an ability that belongs only to itself.

Core energy never handed out identical weapons. It amplified environment, instinct, memory, and need. The result was powerful enough to draw government attention—and personal enough that separating the ability from the ball became impossible.

Behind the ability

Who Evil Clone became.

Evil Clone is charming, theatrical, perceptive, competitive, and painfully insecure. The flaw is appropriation: admiration becomes theft, and every relationship is tested by the desire to prove the copy can surpass the original.

A power can change how the world sees a fighter without deciding who that fighter becomes. Hero, villain, celebrity, threat: the labels shift with every match. Character is what remains when the Arena lights go dark.

Inside the Arena

Every battle is also an experiment.

At the start of each battle, Evil Clone stabilizes two borrowed abilities and keeps them for the full round. The combination is readable, powerful, and never entirely personal. Every victory proves the copy can perform; none proves who the copy is without an audience.

Evil Clone wants the Core to provide an ability that belongs to no one else. Until then, replacing originals feels easier than admitting how badly an original self is wanted.

Rivals, allies, unfinished business

No fighter enters alone.

Some histories overlap. Some rivalries began before the first bell. Follow the connections that shape Evil Clone beyond a single round.

The Core Chamber

The question beneath the Arena.

The Core Chamber still reflects Evil Clone when the clone is elsewhere. Sometimes that reflection performs actions Evil Clone has not yet taken.

Champions are promised access, not ownership. Many have descended. None has received a clear answer. The government records every reaction and publishes almost nothing, while the Core continues to pulse and new powered balls continue to appear.
